MARFA >> Arts >> Photography >> Fashion >> Vogue >> China?!
So, Marfa Texas is a haven for the eclectic vibes in the art world.
Marfa’s presence in mainstream media has also – thankfully – not waned.
The connection with photography is an obvious given.
And so the dot-connection continues on to . . . fashion! Vogue of all publications!
And in this day and age of globalization, I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised to see
“China” as the distinction in this story . . . Vogue, China – that is!
I consider this a “Marfa-inspired” shoot, because the presence of the backdrop is so strong in this spread.
The model and her attire serving as compliments to each setting versus being a distraction.
Each moment a story of place.
I especially love how these fashion pieces chosen are not particularly western, not distinctively “country” or even “eclectic,” but rather oozes in unique sophistication and graphic colors. Items that are inspired and their unique flair could definitely be imagined on our sweet Marfa streets.

The desert setting is so romantic, so dramatic, with such a deep resonating story to tell. The lighting is also so luminescent, day or night. It glows, it throbs. No wonder it is so often chosen as a backdrop for photo shoots. If fashion photography + desert settings are of interest to you – as it is to me – my Pinterest Board “Desert Fashion Photography”
